Dr Sylvie Vanasse is the Director of Parlure. She has more than 30 years experience in adult learning and development, and seven years in counselling, specialising in Mindfulness and Buddhist psychotherapy. She works and volunteers with Lifeline Australia as telephone crisis supporter and facilitator, as well as having her private counselling practice. She also teaches reflective meditation during retreats and gives regular talks at various sanghas (secular Buddhist communities) around Sydney.
Sylvie completed her doctorate research in adult learning at University of Montreal and IBM T.J. Watson Research Centre of New York. She later completed her graduate diploma in counselling with the Jansen Newman Institute in Sydney, and her Buddhist Psychotherapy specialisation with AABCAP (Australian Association of Buddhist Counsellors and Psychotherapists).
Sylvie has supported individuals and organisations through major changes. She has gone through a number of career changes and transitions herself, such a immigrating and adapting to live in different countries. So, she understands, not just theoretically but practically, the challenges of making changes happen and approaches personal changes with compassion and realism.
Sylvie was also one of the four finalists for the ‘AHRI (Australian Human Resource Institute) HR Leader of the Year’ Award in 2009, and was nominated by her staff members.
